Who we are

Ancrum Mountaineering Club is a small friendly club based in Dundee, Scotland. The club has monthly weekend and day meets as well as long weekends in May and October. Click here to find out more about the background of the club

Avalanche reports and Weather

Always check out snow and weather conditions before you venture out on the hills in winter (and in Summer! )using this daily updated (in winter) site.

AMC Travel and weather links

Ski-Visit Scotland has good information on ski and road conditions and weather.

Winter Highland is also a great site for description of snow conditions.

Geoff Monk, a Meteorology Consultant is providing mountain condition reports in a pdf (acrobat reader) format .

BBC Radio Scotland (FM) has a hill weather report every weekday evening at 1915 hrs. Tune that car radio in now! You can listen to at any time on the BBc website (Radio Scotland) if you have broadband.

Final munro groupThe Great Ancrum Munro Challenge 2002

 

To celebrate the International Year of Mountains a quest for Ancrum members to climb all the Munros, collectively, in 2002 was set. A' Ghlas-Bheinn, our last Munro was climbed by a large party on Saturday 14 December. See the photographs here

Nick Hamilton wins Mountain Literature Prize!

Nick looks pleasedCongratulations to our own Nick Hamilton, who shared 3rd prize for best prose in the MC of S Mountain Article Competition 2005. Nick's story, Indian Wall ,tells of a climber finding his personal limits on a Native American Mesa. You should be able to read this in The Scottish Mountaineer over the next few months.
